Servant-leadership: Bringing the Spirit of Work to Work

This is the first UK guide to the growing philosophy of servant leadership, with articles by a number of recognised consultants and practitioners in the field. The book explains how true leaders are driven by a motivation to help and serve others, and shows how these principles can be profitably employed in business institutions and organisations. First conceived over 30 years ago by celebrated American management guru Robert Greenleaf, the ideas of servant leadership are only now beginning to acquire major international recognition. The book is supported and endorsed by the UK's Greenleaf Centre for Servant Leadership.

Organisational Consulting: @ the Edges of Possibility

"Among the very best of a new genre of leadership texts, which I broadly characterize as 'action inquiry' books. . . . Full of usable clues and of inspiring examples of humility--a high virtue in communities of peer inquiry." --Bill Torbert, director of research, Harthill Consulting

"This book offers a rich mixture of stories about people's actual experience when working with organizations and wanting to make a difference. The situations are vividly described, not sanitized in any way, and bring to life all the paradoxes and contradictions which we, as organizational leaders and consultants, face every day as we struggle to provoke thinking and bring insight through our work. . . . The book serves to inspire us to hold our nerve and go for it--sometimes in the smallest ways--to bring about surprising results." --Sally Hulks, change leader, Civil Service
