The Jelly Gallery

“The main benefits of our coaching sessions have been working together as a team, generating ideas, learning about how individuals work and how we can build on it together. By visualising the Jelly’s goals, sharing ideas and workloads, we have realised what each person is really good at.”
Zillah Garner, Marketing Manager, The Jelly Gallery

Business Challenge

The Jelly Gallery is an artist-led venture set up as a charity to provide education about, and access to, the arts for Reading residents. Having gone through a recent internal reorganisation the Jelly wanted to run a series of teambuilding sessions that would:

  • Encourage a team dialogue about where the Jelly wanted to be
  • Identify the key business and staff development issues that the team would value spending time on
  • Pinpoint where additional workload or skill-sharing help was required
  • Establish a communications channel between shift-working team members for the first time
  • Provide a supportive framework to help the newly formed team generate ideas and take ownership for activities that would positively shape the gallery’s future.

How Inspire Helped

Inspire was invited to work alongside communications consultancy partner Beehive. Together Beehive and Inspire designed six team-building sessions that would maximise team trust, involvement and discussion. Each session was focused on exploring how the team was progressing towards its goals, and sharing and celebrating achievements that occurred along the way. Emphasis was placed on generating creative solutions as a team, to overcome potential barriers to success.

Outcomes

By providing a supportive and interactive framework, Beehive and Inspire helped the Jelly team to find new ways of working together that were efficient and effective. The team particularly valued the time spent on exploring the organisation’s goals, learning about individual motivations, and sharing ideas for the future. The teambuilding sessions nurtured a strong sense of team spirit, which is expected to deliver far-reaching benefits for the Gallery’s growth.
