The term facilitation is broadly used to describe any activity which makes a task easier for others. For us, it usually involves bringing together a diverse group of people with a specific problem, challenge or opportunity and guiding them on a journey to a place where they can agree and commit to on a common way forward.

Often when you are immersed in the day to day delivery of the business, you find an important issue emerging that needs more time, research or in-depth analysis. It may be that:

  • You’ve brought together key players from different parts of your organisation and now need them to contribute to and support a new way forward…
  • Important decisions need to be made about a sensitive topic and you want to be effective in capturing differing views and getting buy-in…
  • You’re organising a meeting with a large group of people and want to contribute to the content without worrying about leading or facilitating…
  • You’ve decided to organise a team ‘away-day’ to explore current issues, get to know each other better and maybe have some fun together...
  • You’re going through a major change and want to involve and engage people in determining the next steps…

Whatever your situation, there will come a time when you realise the scale, complexity and importance of the task ahead. And recognise that it takes a different kind of expertise to get everyone working together, quickly and effectively.

Inspire the Best has that expertise.

One of our clients who runs a global implementation group was having difficulties getting everyone to work to the same standards and meet the company’s stringent compliance regulations, many of which had recently been updated.

We supported the client in bringing together 30 people from a worldwide team for a two and half day meeting. We designed the event so that everyone would have an opportunity to hear views from the main players, share experiences from their own areas, discuss topics and solutions, and gain a common understanding of the overall cost of implementation. This involved a lot of skilled listening and choice about when to intervene and when to let people work things through for themselves.

The client was very impressed at the level of support to individuals as well as to the whole group, and by how they achieved such a very high level of engagement and commitment to action.
